VCU School of Business

December 2021 Commencement

Sunday, December 12

Altria Theater

Let's celebrate!

Our goal is to offer each 2020 and 2021 business graduate the option to attend an in-person ceremony. The number of guest tickets available per graduate will depend upon the number of RVSPs received.

We have tentatively reserved Altria Theater for the afternoon on Sunday, December 12. All eligible graduates received an email inviting them to RSVP for the ceremony. If you did not receive an email and believe you are eligible to participate, please email usib@vcu.edu if you’re an undergraduate student, or gsib@vcu.edu if you’re a graduate student as soon as possible.

Spring 2021 Graduation Recap

FAQ

Many details have not been finalized, but here are some of the anticipated FAQ we can address now:

How many guests may I invite?

  • We need to know how many graduates will attend in person before determining how many guest tickets will be allocated to each student. It's important to RSVP by the October 17 deadline so we can allocate guest tickets as quickly as possible thereafter.

What time will the commencement begin on Sunday, December 12? What if the time does not work for my guests?

  • After receiving the student responses to the RSVP form, we will determine how many ceremonies will be held, in addition to what time they will begin. It will not be possible to attend a different ceremony. Guests who are unable to attend the ceremony will be able to access a recording of the event.

Must I wear regalia to participate?

  • Regalia will not be required for the School of Business Commencement on December 12. Graduates that do not wish to wear regalia are expected to dress in business attire. Regalia may be purchased at Barnes & Noble @ VCU (1111 W. Broad St.) or online at balfour.com/vcu.

How will this be different than the last ceremony before the pandemic and from the ceremony held in May?

  • Safety requirements are subject to change, but we currently expect a 100% capacity ceremony with masks required of all graduates, faculty, and guests. We will provide more logistical details as they are available.

Will there be a university-wide commencement for all VCU students?
