Comprehensive Ophthalmology

The Department of Ophthalmology at VCU provides patient care and resident training in services ranging from general eye exams to the medical and surgical treatment of complex vision disorders.

Residents gain early access to ophthalmology education and training during the combined intern year and complete all comprehensive and subspecialty requirements set by the ACGME. Our comprehensive ophthalmic evaluation and treatment services include:

  • Comprehensive eye exams, including glasses prescriptions and contact lens referrals
  • Cataract evaluation and surgery
  • Urgent eye care
  • Screening for diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and macular degeneration
  • Management of dry eyes
