Once a candidate has accepted an offer of employment with the university, the hiring manager, in partnership with HR, must prepare to onboard the new employee. A well thought out and organized orientation is an important step in welcoming and quickly acclimating a new employee to VCU. Onboarding is an investment in employee retention and productivity, and managers play a critical role in planning and implementing the onboarding process for new employees. Often, employees feel a stronger connection to the organization and to their immediate teams when thoughtfully engaged. As a result, these employees are typically more successful contributors. After the hiring decision is made, and an offer has been extended and accepted, the new hire administration process can begin.
