Treatment of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma
Specific treatment for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma will be determined by your child’s physician based on:
- Your child’s age, overall health and medical history.
- Extent of the disease.
- Your child’s tolerance for specific medications, procedures or therapies.
- The expectations for the course of the disease.
- Your opinion or preference.
Treatment may include (alone or in combination) the following methods:
- Chemotherapy.
- Radiation therapy.
- Surgery.
- Close monitoring of blood work.
- Bone marrow transplant.
- Bone marrow examinations.
- Lumbar punctures/spinal taps
- Antibiotics – to prevent or treat infections.
- Supportive care – for side effects of treatment.
- Long-term follow up care – to determine response to treatment, detect recurrent disease and manage late effects of treatment.
