The VCU School of Dentistry is among the first to integrate its dental clinics into the wider medical community with a brand new Adult Outpatient Pavilion now under construction. Students learning in this collaborative, interdisciplinary practice model, will learn to see and treat patients’ health concerns in a larger landscape of the human condition. They will be the leaders in health care through the new collaborative model taking shape here. Completion is scheduled for late 2021.

Until then, the facilities of the School of Dentistry are housed in the VCU Dental Building 1, Lyons, and Perkinson Buildings and contain clinical facilities, research facilities, classrooms, student laboratories, departmental offices and a computer learning laboratory. The laboratories and classrooms contain closed circuit television receivers. The Health Sciences Library is located across the street from the School of Dentistry. This is the largest health science library in Virginia.

The Orthodontic Practice is a state-of-the art facility located in the Lyons Building within the School of Dentistry. The program strives for a private practice setting using up-to-date techniques and equipment. Currently, patient recordkeeping, scheduling, and accounting are completely digital. There is a separate digital radiology facility operated by the department located adjacent to the clinic area.
