The Division of Clinical Pathology offers a diverse menu of laboratory testing services. Our laboratories are well equipped to provide the highest level of support to health care providers and researchers through leading-edge technologies, quality assurance measurements, and laboratory management programs.

To provide convenient access to a high quality CAP & CLIA certified clinical laboratory offering onsite laboratory testing and centralized specimen processing services.
To provide laboratory services that support industry-sponsored, investigator-initiated and independent research at the VCU Medical Center.
Successful implementation of research protocols is dependent on involving the Department of Pathology early in the planning process. We assist researchers needing use of our facilities, technology and/or professional expertise. Submit a Request for VCU Health System Clinical, Nursing, and Ancillary Support Form. To access the ancillary request form, please visit http://go.vcu.edu/ancillaryrequest. For laboratory services, select "Pathology and Anatomic Pathology" from the list of Ancillary Services. Remember to upload the Trial Protocol, Laboratory Specimen Processing Manual (if applicable) and WIRB/IRB Approval (if available).
When clinical trial or grant funds are going to pay for a clinical pathology service. One form per subject, per lab collection is required.
Notify the of the requested change. A revised Pricing Proposal will be returned to the clinical trial coordinator for review and signature. The signed Pricing Proposal should be returned to the CPRS Coordinator. The manual clinical pathology requisition form will also be updated to reflect any changes.
Notify the immediately of any issues. The CPRS Coordinator will investigate all issues and assist the clinical trial coordinator or monitor as needed.
Results are reported by fax or campus mail. This is established during account setup. Secure Cerner access to results is also available upon request.
A billing invoice is mailed once a month to each clinical trial/study billing department. If you encounter any billing errors while administering your project, please submit a Billing Correction Form (pdf) to the as soon as possible.
