As the provost and vice president for academic affairs, Gail Hackett, Ph.D., serves as the chief academic officer for VCU. She is responsible for creating and implementing the academic priorities for the university.
Dr. Hackett works closely with academic deans, faculty and other leadership within the university to ensure a safe, high-quality learning experience for all VCU students.
Similarly, the provost also leads faculty recruitment and retention efforts, ensuring that we have an outstanding and diverse faculty who are supported and well-prepared to deliver the education our students need.
Dr. Hackett also leads strategic university-level initiatives closely tied to VCU's academic mission, such as the creation and implementation of our new strategic plan, Quest 2025: Together We Transform.
