Dear VCU Community,
Earlier this spring, we called for volunteers for the VCU Vaccine Corps. With enthusiasm and a selfless spirit, thousands of you answered the call.
The VCU Vaccine Corps supports our health system, health departments and community partners by providing COVID-19 vaccines to thousands across Central Virginia. With more than 3,000 faculty, staff and students, the corps is a valuable resource ensuring vaccination events meet the demand as the Commonwealth continues to expand vaccine eligibility in the community.
With the semester coming to an end, many students will be graduating or returning home for the summer and some faculty will be leaving campus. Meanwhile, we are expecting to see increasing demands for vaccination events, as the state moves into Phase 2, making all Virginians 16 years and older eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
Once again, we need your help signing up faculty, staff and students who are available during the summer months to volunteer.
If you are willing to volunteer, go to https://vaccinecorps.vcu.edu/. At the bottom of the page, you can identify your interest in volunteering and learn more about training. Once you have completed training (which can be as short as 15 minutes), we will contact you about volunteer opportunities.
The vaccine is working as evidenced by the stabilizing COVID-19 numbers. We must keep the momentum going. The faster we vaccinate our population, the sooner we can bring an end to the pandemic and resume our normal lives.
We optimistically look forward to seeing each other’s smiling faces by summer, but we can only turn this corner with your help. Meanwhile, be safe, stay masked, stay appropriately distanced, and help as you can.
Thank you for your consideration, support and partnership in our efforts against COVID-19.
With much appreciation,
