Dr. Gina Kovarsky earned her B.A. in English from Yale University and her M.A., M. Phil, and Ph.D. degrees in Slavic Languages from Columbia University, with a focus on 19th-century Russian literature.

Dr. Kovarsky designed the Russian language and Russian studies curricula for the School of World Studies and collaborated in the establishment of the International Social Justice track in the International Studies program. She teaches courses on Russian language, culture and society; 19th- and 20th-century Russian literature and culture; Russian literature and the West; Soviet and post-Soviet film; human rights and literature; and a variety of topics in international studies.
