Description
This module will address the difference between stigma and bias as well the different types that can impact persons with substance use disorders and mental health challenges.
Upon successful completion of this educational activity, participants will:
- Define bias and stigma
- Review the different types of bias and stigma
- Discuss how stigma affects individuals with substance use disorder
- Identify what you, as helping professionals, can do to reduce the impact of bias and stigma on your clients and in your community

Each registrant will have 30 days/per clock hour to complete the module. Therefore if the module is worth one clock hour, the registrant has 30 days to complete it, and 60 days to complete a module worth 2 clock hours.
Cancellation/Refund Policy: Once enrolled, there are no cancellations/refunds.
Transfers: Registrations may be transferred to a different module or person if requested in writing via email at ocpe@vcu.edu within 24 hours after enrollment. The participant must meet all qualifications required by the program.
In the unlikely event that this program is cancelled or postponed due to insufficient enrollments or unforeseen circumstances, the university will fully refund registration fees, but cannot be held responsible for any other expenses, including change or cancellation charges to include but not limited to airlines, hotels, travel agencies, or other organizations.
