Massey is a true national leader, and one the very few programs doing advanced, National Cancer Institute-funded research in all three areas of radiation oncology study.
- State-of-the-art linear accelerators that use four dimensional (4D) image-guidance and robotic controls to enable physicians to offer therapies that have never been available before with as much power and precision
- Brachytherapy, in which radioactive sources applied either inside or very close to tumor tissues precisely deliver the radiation and spare healthy tissue
- A full spectrum of therapeutic treatments using the most advanced technologies, including 4-Dimensional radiotherapy, Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy, stereotactic radiotherapy, intensity-modulated and image-guided radiation therapy, AccuBoost technology and hyperthermia therapy
The Department of Radiation Oncology is also committed to the training and education of the next generation of radiation oncologists, medical physicists, cancer biologists and radiation therapists. The Department provides outstanding educational opportunities in each of these areas, with more than 20 trainees currently enrolled in our programs.
