My research focus on cancer prevention and the use of innovative strategies to engage mothers and daughters to a) break the silence about cancer with each other, b) facilitate intergenerational learning and modeling of cancer prevention behaviors. Additionally, I focus on cancer risk behaviors at an individual and community level addressing the multiple factors contributing to obesity particularly in marginalized Black and Brown communities. My research is centered in the engagement of community at the grassroots level which includes an elevated focus on building capacity of community partners and residents to co-lead and co-design research efforts to improve health outcomes within their own community.
