Zach Canfield received scholarship funding to cover the cost of tuition, fees, books and room and board up to a maximum of $7,500 per year. Meshkin, a member of the VCU Honors College, is majoring in chemical engineering through the School of Engineering. In the past, he has received the Dean’s Undergraduate Research Initiative Grant. He is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AlChE) and Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honors Society.
Canfield, who is from Richmond, Va., is a 2011 graduate of James River High School in Midlothian. He is now pursuing a Ph.D. in engineering with a focus in synthetic biology. His interest is work in the development of novel proteins that may be used in the pharmaceutical or catalyst industry.
