The Office of Financial Aid begins to disburse semester aid about a week before the start of each semester if:
- All requirements have been completed.
- The student is enrolled for the appropriate number of credit hours.
- VCU has received the funds from the Department of Education or the student's loan provider.
When aid is disbursed, it is disbursed to the VCU Student Accounting Department and used towards the student's current balance.
Please be aware that Federal Work Study aid, if applicable, is not disbursed in the same manner as grants and loans. Federal Work Study aid is disbursed in the form of a paycheck to the student, at least once a month, in return for a job worked.
