In her role, Teresa Doherty oversees the Information Desk in Cabell Library and the staff that provides frontline services to students, researchers, and visitors through in-person interactions as well as through chat and text services. She also manages some “library as space” services, such as the mothers’ rooms and group study rooms in Cabell Library. As a Teaching and Learning Librarian, she leads research and information literacy sessions for undergraduate students in Focused Inquiry classes and participates in a variety of library outreach events, such as New Student Orientation, open house tours, and more.

Teresa is actively engaged with library colleagues on the state and national levels, especially in the area of intellectual freedom. She has served as a member of the American Library Association’s Intellectual Freedom Committee for almost 10 years. Most recently, she led a working group to craft guidelines for public and academic libraries using social media.
