How to Access the HPRC Clusters

If you are off-campus or on certain on-campus networks, you may be required to install and use the vcu vpn client before using your ssh client. Information about the vcu vpn client is found here:

http://go.vcu.edu/ramsvpn

Access to this server is done with the Secure Shell (ssh) and Secure File Transfer (sftp) client. MacOS and Linux have ssh and sftp included as commands through their Terminal. Windows computers will need to have programs installed to do this. I recommend Putty for ssh and Filezilla for sftp access. Download from here:

http://mirror.vcu.edu/pub/windows/putty/

https://filezilla-project.org/

With an ssh client please connect to your account on the cluster with your EID and the password you set when you requested the account.

All intense computation should be submitted via gridengine (previously called sun grid engine) Some pointers for using gridengine are found here: https://wiki.vcu.edu/display/unix/GridEngine
