Camp Qmunity registrants [View Image]
VCU’s Queer Research and Advocacy Center, known as the Q Collective, holds a summer intensive on LGBT+/Queer Studies in July. Throughout the month, we meet synchronously and asynchronously to dive into histories and best practices in web technologies and design, with attention to designing explicitly for diverse users and contexts. Featuring guest speakers with specializations in, among others, user experience design, LGBTQIA+ health information needs, inclusive web design, and the intersections of race, nationality, and the body, students learn, study, and engage with mentors and scholars from throughout the VCU community. This interdisciplinary intensive culminates in a group project focused on serving the queer community at VCU.
This competitive opportunity is open to all students with at least one more semester of full-time undergraduate coursework. Pell eligible, first-generation, and students who hold multiple marginalized identities are particularly encouraged to apply.
Applications for this program will open in the spring. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions.
