Kaelne will be studying the history of the Parián market in Mexico City and the Manila Galleon trade system that brought it into existence, conducting preliminary research for future graduate studies. Her research will highlight the significance of the integration of Asian style art into New Spanish/Mexican traditions in the formation of Mexican visual culture as it diverges from western formulae. After Fulbright, Kaelne will apply to PhD programs in Art History, principally in the field of Spanish Colonial art. Kaelne received her B.F.A. in Art History, Photography, and Spanish from VCU in 2015.
