Research description

My main research interests focus on using diverse and innovative quantitative methodologies tounderstand the various aspects by which differential access to and quality of cancer screenings, diagnosis and treatment may explain cancer mortality disparities by race and ethnicity, gender, sexual identity and orientation, and/or geography. I am particularly interested in learning and applying machine learning and artificial intelligence methodologies to the study of cancer health disparities with the overarching goal of expediting progress towards cancer health equity. I am also interested in how cancer centers define, develop and use their catchment area to inform their strategic research agendas, and how impacted (catchment area) communities are integrated in the development of such agendas, so they in turn, as the true catalysts of change, continue to identify, inform and engage othercommunity members in shaping future research agendas, encouraging diverse clinical trial participation and expecting equitable access to high quality cancer care.
