Research description

My current cancer-related research projects include clinically-oriented studies of melanoma, cutaneous carcinoma, and cutaneous sarcoma. As a dermatopathologist and surgical pathologist responsible for a busy clinical service, my projects have focused on improving the application of morphologic diagnostic criteria, immunohistochemical stains, and correlation of pathologic features with molecular genetic data. Recent projects have included a study correlating clinical, pathologic, and molecular genetic features of melanomas with RAF1 fusion, in press in Modern Pathology, clinicopathologic and molecular features of cutaneous atypical lipomatous tumors, in press in the American Journal of Clinical Pathology, and a project evaluating a particular immunohistochemical marker in the detection of melanoma in sentinel lymph nodes, published in the Journal of Cutaneous Pathology.
