My team is engaged in multiple projects in which we support collaborative structural biology and drug discovery projects, the majority involving cancer-relevant targets. Our primary tools are computational chemistry software programs, some of which we have invented at VCU, that can help our colleagues understand the structural and chemical basis of their biological observations. In particular, we can build 3D models of proteins and use them to identify potential small molecule effectors (e.g., by virtual screening or de novo design).
