Adjunct Professor of Trumpet
Kevin Maloney is an award winning soloist and chamber musician who has performed in Europe, Asia, Canada, and throughout the United States. Awards and recognition from national and international competitions include the Jeju International Brass Competition (2010); Ellsworth Smith International Solo Competition (2008); Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition (2007); North American Brass Band Association Championships; National Trumpet Competition (2005/2007); and the International Trumpet Guild Solo Competition (2005). He is currently Principal Solo cornet with Brass of the Potomac, and has performed with Boston Brass and the Brass Band of Battle Creek. An avid educator, Maloney has been on faculty at Virginia Commonwealth University since 2013.
A native of Burke, Virginia, Maloney attended East Carolina University (B.M.), Boston University (M.M./P.D.), and began doctoral studies at the University of Michigan. Prior to joining “Pershing’s Own”, Maloney taught trumpet from 2007-2012 at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI.
