Digital Signage
The VCU digital signage system is an excellent way to communicate with the university community about events and services. VCU Technology Support Services (TSS) maintains the Korbyt digital signage system, a VCU Alert emergency notification system component. In addition, TSS personnel can set specifications and install and train VCU departments to use the system.
More than 120 digital signage players are on the Monroe Park and MCV campuses. Locations include the University Student Commons, Hunton Hall, VCU Libraries, residence halls, Recreation Sports facilities, parking decks, and academic buildings.
Slide Design and Formatting
Slide distribution is restricted solely to VCU-related content. Therefore, all submitted requests and content must be for official VCU events requests or official events of recognized VCU student organizations. All submitted content is subject to review.
The digital slides are formatted in a horizontal 16:9 ratio or 1080 x 1920 pixels (imagine widescreen Powerpoint). All submitted slides should be formated in jpg or png. Departments and student organizations must comply with university branding for their represented areas.
When designing slides, please be aware that the amount of time each slide is displayed is approximately 9 seconds. With that in mind, please include the details: what, when, where, and a web address for additional info.
Submitting Your Requests
To submit a request to install a digital player for your department or schedule a slide for display, please send your requests using the online support ticket system. Be sure to include the calendar duration for each slide. We recommend requests be submitted ten business days before the run date begins.
Note: Submitted slides are not guaranteed to run on all players. Each digital display is owned and managed by individual departments and schools. These display owners reserve the right to determine appropriate content for their locations and audience.
