VCU/VCUHS coordination (Spring 2010 Faculty & Staff Survey)

Coordination and cooperation between VCU Technology Services and VCUHS IT was frequently mentioned considering the relatively small number of faculty and staff who would be affected by problems in this area.

Actions

  • Work with VCUHS IT to provide secure, but easier, access for those faculty and staff that require resources on both the VCU network and on the VCUHS network.
    • Update October 2010:  Initial meeting of CIOs of VCU Technology Services and VCUHS IT along with key Directors was held.  On-going meetings are scheduled.
    • Update February 2011:
      • VCUTS has established an autoencryption mechanism for faculty-clinician email accounts on the University's Lotus Notes system.  VCUHS will enable autoforwarding of VCUHS email at the request of faculty.  Expected go-live: early March.
      • VCUHS is testing secure remote access technology which will allow easy access to VCUHS systems from SECNet on the University network.  Additional hardware will be required on the VCUHS side.
