      Web Analytics

Who’s visiting your site? Use web analytics to find out! Analytics allows users to dig into your website’s statistics to figure out such things as what pages are the most popular and when.

      Google Analytics

If Google Analytics (GA) is already in place, have your local administrator add you to the account.

If your site does not have analytics set up, create an account using your VCU email address. Once you have the site’s Tracking ID, you have the option of adding it to your website via the content type “Plugin - Google Analytics” or a custom implementation. Additional analytics data can be found about your site on the VCU Branding Bar stats dashboard.

The university currently does not offer technical support for GA. Documentation can be found on Google's Analytics Help Center.

Be aware of all applicable Web Standards and Guidelines related to analytics when creating a new account. Especially important is that all GA accounts linked to VCU websites must grant webservices@vcu.edu user management permissions to ensure continuity.

      Matomo

Formerly VCU’s primary analytics platform, Matomo was phased out and removed from service in May, 2020.
